App Privacy Policy
Effective August 16, 2026 · Covers the Build A Squishy app for iOS. The website has its own policy at buildasquishy.com/privacy.
The short version: the app has no accounts and never asks who you are. Your squishies are saved on your own device, not on our servers. Optional purchases are handled entirely by Apple — we never see any payment details. The app contains no third-party analytics or tracking tools at all. The only thing it ever sends us is an anonymous technical report if something breaks, so we can fix it — and that's it.
No ads. No selling data. No chat. No location. Nothing to sign up for.
Who we are
Build A Squishy is a 3D squishy creator made by Gladio LLC in the United States, and also available free on the web at buildasquishy.com. Questions about this policy can be sent through the contact form linked at the bottom of this page.
What we never collect
- No accounts, names, email addresses, photos, or profiles — the one exception is the optional email address you may choose to type into our contact form if you would like a reply
- No chat, messaging, or any way to contact other players
- No precise location
- No advertising, ad tracking, or cross-app tracking of any kind — the app never shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt because it never tracks
- We never sell or share data for marketing — there is nothing to sell
Your squishies stay on your device
Creations, settings, and progress are stored inside the app's own storage on your device. They are never uploaded to us — we couldn't look at your collection if we wanted to. Deleting the app deletes them. The whole toy is bundled with the app, so it also works with no internet connection at all.
Purchases
The app is free, and everything in the free version stays free. It offers optional one-time purchases (starting with Squishy Deluxe) that permanently unlock additional content. About those purchases:
- Every purchase opportunity sits behind a grown-ups gate — prices and buy buttons are never pushed into the child-facing toy
- Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store names, card numbers, or any payment details — Apple's own privacy policy covers the transaction
- Each is a permanent one-time unlock — no subscriptions, no consumables, no in-app currency, no randomized rewards
- It can be restored free on a new device from the App Store ("Restore Purchases" in the app)
- Apple's parental controls — Ask to Buy, Screen Time purchase restrictions, and Family Sharing rules — all apply normally
- The app never nags about buying, and nothing in the free toy is taken away or timed to pressure a purchase
No analytics, no tracking tools
The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software — no Google Analytics, no ad SDKs, no tracking identifiers of any kind. To understand how the app is doing overall, we rely on the anonymous, aggregated statistics Apple provides to every developer (things like total downloads), which involve no data collection by us at all.
Error reports
If something in the app breaks — a crash, a glitch, a feature that stops working — the app sends us a small anonymous technical report so we can fix it. These reports go directly to us (no third-party error service is involved) and are counted together, not kept as individual records. A report contains only the kind of error, roughly where in our code it happened, and the app version. It never contains anything you typed, anything you made, or anything about you.
- Reports carry no cookies and no identifiers — they are not linked to you, your device, or to each other
- We do not keep the network addresses these reports arrive from
- There is no session recording or screen capture of any kind
- Reports are used only to fix bugs, never for advertising or profiling
- If nothing breaks, nothing is sent — and if the report can't be sent, the app simply carries on
Haptics and sound
The app's vibrations and sounds are generated on your device as you play. Nothing about how you touch, squeeze, or play is recorded or sent anywhere.
Sending a squishy
"Send a Squishy" links carry only the recipe — which shape, color, finish, inside, and sparkles to use — encoded directly in the link itself. The link never contains a typed name or any personal information, is never sent to our servers, and opening one simply rebuilds the squishy on the receiving device. Purchased content is never granted by a link — recipients can see a shared squishy, but unlocks always come from play or from the App Store.
Making a video
The app can turn your squishy into a short video — the squishy forming, being squeezed, and settling again, with the app's own sounds. Every frame and every sound is made on your device by the app itself; it is not a recording of your screen, so it can never catch anything else that was on it. The video shows only the squishy and its made-up name, never a typed name or anything else about you. Nothing is uploaded — the finished video is handed to you, to save to your Photos or send somewhere yourself. Saving to Photos is add-only: the app can put a picture or a video in, and cannot see anything already there. The video also carries the app's name and a scannable code that opens the same squishy — the same recipe-only link described above, and nothing more.
Writing to us
There is a contact form in the app — tap the Build A Squishy logo to open the About panel, choose "For grown-ups," and then "send us a note." What you write is delivered straight to our own mailbox. It is not stored in a database, not published anywhere, and not shared with anyone. Adding an email address is optional, and we use it only to write back to you.
Please don't put a last name, address, school, or phone number in a note — we don't want that information, and we delete anything like it when we see it. To keep automated spam out, the form runs Cloudflare's Turnstile check, which confirms a real person is sending the note and does not track you across apps or websites.
Children's privacy
Build A Squishy is made for young people, including players under 13, so we hold ourselves to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not ask for or knowingly collect personal information from anyone. The contact form described above is the only place anything can be typed in at all, and it never asks who you are. The anonymous, aggregate error reports described above are collected only to support the app's internal operations — fixing bugs — which COPPA permits without parental consent. They are never used for behavioral advertising or to build profiles. Purchases sit behind a grown-ups gate and go through Apple's own payment system, where Apple's family controls (like Ask to Buy) put parents in charge.
Parents and guardians: if you have any questions, or want us to review or delete any data connected to your child's play, use the contact form linked below and we will help.
Changes to this policy
If what the app collects ever changes — for example, if a future version adds optional iCloud sync for your collection — we will update this page first and change the effective date at the top.
Contact
Use the contact form for any question about privacy in Build A Squishy, including a parent or guardian's request to review or delete data connected to a child's play. It reaches us directly.
